Mara Turin's European Champion optimist is a perfect co-operation of sailor-coach-optimist builder. Of course the colour was chosen by Mara.
Thank you Mara, and again cogratulation to your European Champion title.

Well Benji Vadnai’s (European Championship 2nd place, later Laser 4.7 world champion)optimist isn’t so easy to describe, because he had so many. My father gave him yearly a new one, thanks to his results, progress and many international regatta winning. Generally he had light grey-whit-red coloured optis. He was the first one who had his own name builted in the hull. And of course we tried every new technical possibilities during the build.

Of course we can’t skip neither this story. Fanni Péch didn’t had an exact wish about the design, so we tried to do our best. Propably she had the only optimist at least in the last 10 years which bouyancy bag webbing is multicoloured. Thanks to Fanni the boat participated in many international event, successfully went trough a full measurement check and made history in 2008 at lake Garda on the European Championship with her second place!

Ákos Kocsis, alias Chaky had a really unique designed optimist. Earlier he had a purple boat, but as his sailing results and studies get better and better he could have a newer one. His idea about colours was, what you can see on the picture. This was our one and only optimist which had a chrominance transition!

Bence Szabolcs, alias Zuzu’s optimist, and the design was generally a result of a misanderstand. The original request was that the orange colour should be only inside..we made it also outside…
So the optimist was waiting for the real owner..Zuzu, who had this opti because he became a
better and better sailor!

We can’t skip him.. Mátyás Huszka the daredevil of present day. He had his own idea also about the design. He gave strict instructions. You can see the result on the picture. Check out the harmony between his drysuit and the yellow airbags. Flawless!

Well…don’t worry, be Böry. David Böröczky had a realy intersting idea about the design..and with this wish he gave us a hard time. In that time his favourite car was Dodge Viper, and he wanted those unique markings on the hull too. Of course he wanted the hungarian tricolours also on the gunwale. His opti's hull was the first multicoloured.

This is a really interesting story. Kota Szalai and his brother Futa are half japanese and half hungarians. Their christmas present was an optimsit with the japanese and hungarian flag colours. Above can you see the result. This was the last time, when we builted a multicolour hull. Trust me, it was a huge challenge! The builder of HOOK Optimist Thanks to you!

Imi Váradi was among the first ones who had hungarian tricolours on the gunwale. Also his favourite hull-colour was light grey.

Well this a quite long story! The point is that Réka Karácsony had the first optimist which had banded design, hungarian blazon, and she was among the first ones who had hungarian tricolours on the gunwale. The white-blue banded design was almost the same like the hungarian airlines’s logo, so everyone was asking hear about the new sponsor..but unfortunately this design was only a coincidence.

We can’t skip this story. Propably the one and only hungarian optimst fleet with pretty recognizable colour was THE club’s optimists. The fully yellow optimist was designed in this way, because the yellow is part of the club’s flag, such as blue. Gergely Földesi was on of the first opti sailors at this club who had these yellow optis. As he told me, it was pretty good because he could find his mates easily. However also the Race Committe and the Jury could find him easily at the startline and during the whole course. Though he really liked this optis!
